A 43-year-old man with previous drug-related cases was arrested in a buy-bust operation that led to the seizure of more than P91,000 worth of illegal drugs in Quezon City, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said Tuesday.
In a report, QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio identified the suspect only by the alias “Jovenier,” a resident of Barangay 738, Paco, Manila.
The operation was conducted at around 3:30 p.m. on May 11 inside a building along E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue in Barangay Damayang Lagi.
According to the QCPD, the operation was carried out by the District Drug Enforcement Unit led by Maj. Elvin Ballesteros, in coordination with the Galas Police Station headed by Lt. Col. Virgilio Jopia, after authorities received information from a concerned citizen regarding the suspect’s alleged illegal drug activities.
Police said an undercover officer acting as a poseur-buyer purchased P50,000 worth of illegal drugs from the suspect. The arrest was made after the operative gave the pre-arranged signal to nearby law enforcement personnel.
Authorities recovered 13.92 grams of ketamine valued at P69,600 and 12.98 grams of ecstasy worth P22,066, with a total estimated street value of P91,666.
Verification conducted by the QCPD showed that the suspect previously faced cases for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office in April 2024 and May 2026.
The suspect is set to face new charges for alleged violation of RA 9165 before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
“This arrest is a clear message that repeat offenders will not be tolerated. We will continue to intensify our operations to ensure that individuals involved in illegal drugs are apprehended and brought to justice,” Silvio said as he commended the operatives involved in the operation.
