The Philippine National Police arrested Northern Mindanao’s No. 2 most wanted person in Pinamungajan, Cebu, over seven counts of statutory rape.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the suspect, identified only by the alias “Glen,” was arrested on July 1 in Sitio Targetan, Barangay Pandacan.
Police said the suspect is a 37-year-old construction worker from Valencia City, Bukidnon.
The operation was conducted by personnel from the Valencia City Police Station, Pinamungajan Municipal Police Station, Regional Detective Team Bukidnon, 1003rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10, Bukidnon police intelligence units, 2nd Bukidnon Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Regional Intelligence Unit 10.
According to the PNP, the arrest was made by virtue of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
The warrant stemmed from seven counts of statutory rape, with no bail recommended.
Following his arrest, the suspect was placed under the custody of the Pinamungajan Municipal Police Station pending his turnover to the court that issued the warrant.
Nartatez said the arrest showed the PNP’s continuing effort to track down fugitives facing serious criminal charges.
“Our pursuit of wanted persons remains relentless because every arrest brings justice closer to victims and strengthens public trust in the rule of law. Patuloy naming hahanapin at aarestuhin ang mga nagtatago sa batas upang managot sila sa kanilang mga krimen,” Nartatez said.
He also commended the operating units for their coordination in locating and arresting the suspect.
“The PNP will continue to strengthen its nationwide manhunt operations to ensure that those accused of heinous crimes are held accountable before the law. Hindi kami titigil sa pagtugis sa mga pinaghahanap ng batas dahil tungkulin naming tiyaking makakamit ng mga biktima ang hustisya,” he said.
The PNP said it will continue intensified operations against wanted persons as part of its campaign to uphold public safety and the rule of law.
