The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has secured a sworn statement from the family of Ateneo de Manila University student-athlete Rene Clert “Bobet” Baterbonia as part of its continuing investigation into the fatal incident in Dipaculao, Aurora.

CIDG investigators went to Talacogon, Agusan del Sur on June 25, 2026, to personally meet the bereaved family and document their account of events surrounding the case.

During the visit, the mother of the victim, Rovelyn Baterbonia, executed a sworn affidavit at the San Agustin Gymnasium in the presence of her legal counsel, Atty. Kenneth Minglana.

Authorities said the statement is now being reviewed, processed, and incorporated into the ongoing case build-up as part of evidence that will be submitted for possible filing before the Department of Justice.

The CIDG said the field visit is part of its sustained efforts to strengthen the investigation and ensure that all relevant testimonies are properly documented.

It added that the agency remains committed to a thorough and transparent probe, assuring the family that all evidence gathered will be carefully evaluated to support the pursuit of accountability and justice.
