A newly graduated man was injured in a shooting incident outside Kolehiyo ng Pantukan in Pantukan, Davao de Oro, shortly after graduation ceremonies on Thursday afternoon.
The local government of Pantukan said the incident occurred at around 12:25 pm and expressed concern over the violence that followed the school-related activity.
Authorities clarified that the shooting happened outside the school’s jurisdiction and did not take place within campus grounds.
Initial reports identified the victim as a 30-year-old resident of Barangay Pindasan in nearby Mabini town, who had just attended the graduation ceremony for a Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education degree major in Home Economics.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while police continue to investigate the circumstances of the attack, including the identity and motive of the assailant.
Local officials said they are coordinating with law enforcement agencies to support the ongoing probe and ensure accountability for those responsible.
“The LGU assures the public that it is committed to extending all necessary assistance and support to the victim and his family,” the municipal government said, adding that its priority remains the safety of students and residents.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm as the investigation continues and to avoid sharing unverified information regarding the incident.
