Net satisfaction with the performance of the Marcos administration improved to a “neutral” +1 in the second quarter of the year from a “poor” -13 in the first quarter, according to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.
The June 20 to 29 survey, which sampled 1,200 adult respondents nationwide with a ±3 percent margin of error, showed that 42 percent of adult Filipinos were satisfied with the administration’s performance, up from 32 percent in the previous quarter. Meanwhile, dissatisfaction fell to 40 percent from 56 percent, while 17 percent remained undecided or neutral, down from 21 percent.
The resulting net satisfaction score of +1 reflects the percentage of satisfied respondents minus dissatisfied respondents, rounded off. Under SWS classifications, net satisfaction ratings of +70 and above are deemed “excellent”; +50 to +69 “very good”; +30 to +49 “good”; +10 to +29 “moderate”; +9 to -9 “neutral”; -10 to -29 “poor”; -30 to -49 “bad”; -50 to -69 “very bad”; and -70 and below “execrable”.
According to its “Governance Report Card,” which evaluated performance across 17 specific subject areas, the administration earned “very good” scores in four areas, “good” in five, “moderate” in three, “neutral” in three, and “poor” in two.
The government achieved “very good” net satisfaction ratings for providing basic education in public elementary and high schools (+68), improving the quality of children’s education (+58), helping the poor (+52), and creating policies to generate job opportunities (+51).
It earned “good” marks for developing science and technology (+49), implementing housing programs for the poor (+48), ensuring food security (+41), defending Philippine sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea (+35), and ensuring an efficient public transportation system (+33).
The administration logged “moderate” scores for preventing family hunger (+26), preparing for climate change impacts (+24) and assisting overseas Filipinos in conflict-affected Middle Eastern countries like Israel and Iran (+15).
It posted “neutral” scores for addressing rising oil prices (net zero), preventing oil price gouging (-6), and fighting crimes against ordinary citizens, including killings, holdups, robberies and physical violence (-8).
However, the administration received “poor” ratings for its handling of two issues: fighting inflation (-12) and eradicating graft and corruption in government (-14).
