President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos are leaving for Japan on Tuesday for a State Visit from May 26 to 29 upon the invitation of the Japanese government.

The visit is expected to deepen Manila and Tokyo’s strategic partnership, with defense and security, maritime cooperation, energy, trade, investment, and labor cooperation among the key issues on the agenda.

Marcos is scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, with both sides expected to witness the signing of new agreements covering defense, trade and investment, and human resources.

The President and the First Lady will also be received by Their Majesties, the Emperor and Empress of Japan, at the Imperial Palace for a welcome ceremony and state call. A state banquet will be held in their honor.

Marcos will also meet with Japanese business leaders as part of efforts to attract more investments and strengthen economic ties between the Philippines and Japan.

He is also scheduled to engage with members of the Filipino community in Japan.
