The Philippine Army has launched a dedicated task force aimed at accelerating the completion of infrastructure projects and addressing construction backlogs across the organization.

The activation of Task Force Engineer was led by Army Chief Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete during a ceremony held at the 51st Engineer Brigade Headquarters in Camp Atienza, Libis, Quezon City, on May 8, 2026.

Headed by the 51st Engineer Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Erwin R. Salibad, the task force is mandated to ensure that Army facilities and infrastructure projects are completed on time and within scope. The initiative adopts a whole-of-organization approach, bringing together support from key Headquarters Philippine Army offices, the Army’s Project Management and Modernization Center, and various engineer units nationwide.

Nafarrete said the initiative forms part of the Army’s broader effort to complete all pending infrastructure projects by 2027, while also improving troop welfare, operational readiness, and organizational capability.

The Army Chief emphasized that modern and functional facilities are essential in strengthening both mission effectiveness and the professional development of personnel.

“Let us remain grounded in our duty to serve the nation and the Filipino people. Through discipline, unity, and professional excellence, we will continue to build a force that is responsive, reliable, and ready to meet the demands of our time,” Nafarrete said.

The newly activated task force is expected to oversee and monitor the timely implementation of critical Army infrastructure projects in support of modernization and capability enhancement efforts.
