President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. administered the oath of office to over 4,000 newly promoted and newly hired Department of Education (DepEd) personnel in Region 2 during a ceremony held at the Santiago City Sports Arena in Isabela.
The mass oath-taking highlighted the government’s continued rollout of the Expanded Career Progression System, which aims to provide public school educators and administrative staff with timely professional advancement.
The chief executive expressed his gratitude to the educators for their dedication to teaching and guiding young Filipinos. He pledged that the administration would address historical promotion delays so that teachers no longer face decades without professional growth.
“Kaya nangako ako sa ating mga guro: hindi na tayo papayag na mayroong guro na magre-retire bilang Teacher I,” Marcos said.
He also said that the previous promotion system subjected educators to unfair waiting periods despite their long service.
“Hindi tama na ibinibigay ninyo ang napakalaking bahagi ng inyong buhay sa pagtuturo, tapos hindi kayo umuunlad sa inyong propesyon,” Marcos also said.
The event recognized thousands of educators, school heads, and non-teaching support staff across Cagayan Valley, marking a significant milestone in regional public education reforms.
