NCR Mayors to Decide on July 10 Class Suspensions Based on Weather Forecasts

  • July 8, 2026

The decision on whether to suspend classes in Metro Manila on Friday, July 10, will be made by local chief executives based on the latest weather forecasts, Metro Manila Council President and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said.

Zamora said each mayor will assess the most recent weather advisories and conditions in their respective jurisdictions before deciding whether to suspend classes to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school personnel.

He said local governments will continue to closely monitor weather developments and coordinate when necessary before issuing their decisions, allowing them to respond properly to changing conditions.

Zamora assured the public that if class suspensions are deemed necessary for July 10, announcements will be made as early as Thursday.

He said this would give parents, students, schools, and commuters enough time to prepare and adjust their schedules.

The statement comes as local governments continue to monitor weather conditions while prioritizing public safety and the timely release of information on possible class suspensions.
