The University of Makati (UMak) confirmed that a student was found dead inside its campus on Friday, Aug. 28.
In a statement, the university said it has reached out to the student’s family and coordinated with authorities for the proper investigation of the incident.
UMak said guidance counselors, trained faculty members and staff are available to provide support and psychological first aid to members of the university community who may need assistance.
The university also appealed to the public to respect the family’s privacy and avoid spreading unverified or speculative information about the incident.
“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the student’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” UMak said.
No further details on the circumstances surrounding the student’s death were immediately disclosed.
