PSC, PMA Explore Partnership on Cadet Sports Development

The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) is looking to strengthen cadet sports development through a possible partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

PSC Chairman John Patrick C. Gregorio visited the PMA at Fort General Gregorio H. del Pilar in Baguio City on June 6, where he met with academy officials and addressed the Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines.

During the visit, Gregorio expressed support for improving athletic training within the academy and pledged P3 million worth of assistance for sports equipment.

The engagement also opened discussions on possible collaboration between the PMA and PSC, including opportunities for cadets with national athlete potential, particularly in martial arts, to take part in higher-level sports programs. Any participation, however, will remain subject to the academy’s training requirements and mission priorities.

Officials also discussed the possible use of PMA facilities as training venues for national athletes, an arrangement that may later be formalized through a memorandum of agreement.

The PMA said the visit highlighted the shared goal of promoting athletic excellence, discipline, and physical readiness among cadets.

Beyond competition, the academy emphasized that sports remain an important part of cadet formation, helping develop endurance, teamwork, mental toughness, and the warrior spirit needed in military service.

The PMA said partnerships such as the one being explored with the PSC support the holistic development of cadets while opening new opportunities to improve athletic training and performance within the academy.
