Two Apprehended Over False Dump Truck Carnapping Report in Bulacan

The Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) has arrested two individuals for allegedly providing false statements in connection with a reported carnapping incident involving an Isuzu Giga dump truck in San Ildefonso, Bulacan.

The arrests were carried out on June 20, 2026, by personnel of the Provincial Highway Patrol Team (PHPT) Bulacan following a complaint lodged on June 16, claiming that the dump truck had been taken without consent and was later offered for sale.

Acting on the complaint, investigators conducted a verification operation in Barangay Bubulong Munti, where the vehicle was reportedly located. During the investigation, the current possessor of the truck presented documents indicating that the unit had allegedly been transferred as payment for an outstanding financial obligation amounting to P1.3 million.

Authorities said inconsistencies in the initial report prompted further inquiry, leading to the arrest of the complainant and another individual for allegedly making false statements in relation to the supposed carnapping case.

The suspects were informed of their constitutional rights in a language they understood, the PNP-HPG said.

PNP-HPG Director PBGen. Rommel Batangan reminded the public that filing false reports undermines legitimate police operations and may result in criminal charges.

“The PNP-HPG remains committed to conducting fair, impartial, and evidence-based investigations,” Batangan said. “We urge the public to provide truthful information when seeking police assistance, as false reports not only waste government resources but may also lead to criminal prosecution.”
