PLDT Home is exploring a new service bundle that would combine high-speed internet with residential solar power solutions, a move that could mark another first in the Philippine telecommunications industry.
The company is working on a potential collaboration with a leading solar energy provider to offer Filipino households a more integrated way to access reliable connectivity and sustainable energy systems.
The planned service aims to help families stay connected while managing rising electricity expenses through solar power.
PLDT said initial market testing showed strong interest from consumers in a bundled digital and energy solution that offers convenience and possible long-term savings on utility costs.
Under the proposed arrangement, subscribers may be able to get solar infrastructure through affordable monthly payment plans spread over several years. This would help address the high upfront cost that usually comes with residential solar installations.
“If people can have solar panels installed together with internet in one go, it should be very compelling for our customers, especially the ones who wish to future-proof their homes,” according to Butch Jimenez, chief operating officer of PLDT.
John Palanca, head of PLDT Home, said the initiative would allow the company to expand its role in Filipino households beyond internet connectivity.
“Aside from enabling our customers to upgrade their homes in the most convenient possible way, this also helps PLDT own the whole home, and not just the internet portion,” Palanca said.
“We’re excited to announce the full details soon,” he added.
PLDT said the proposed collaboration reflects the group’s push to develop innovative services that bring practical technologies to Filipino households. The company said the initiative also supports Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan’s continuing focus on solutions that improve everyday life across the country.
