Taguig City shared its cooperative development practices with Pasig officials during a benchmarking session aimed at strengthening community-based enterprises and promoting sustainable cooperative management.
The Taguig City Cooperative Development Office hosted the delegation from the Pasig City Cooperative Development Office on June 29 at the Taguig LEAP Center.
The learning session featured presentations on ISO 9001:2015 and Great Place to Work certifications by Joseph Nathan Cruz of the Philippine Army Finance Center Producers Integrated Cooperative.
Maricar Hernandez, president and CEO of Simbayanan ni Maria Multipurpose Cooperative, also discussed enterprise development strategies.
According to the TCDO, the presentations were followed by an open forum where participants exchanged ideas and discussed initiatives to improve cooperative development.
TCDO Head Lecira “Bing” Juarez said successful cooperatives should be guided by the principle of “people helping people help themselves” and should be “born out of need, not out of want.”
Juarez encouraged the Pasig delegation to build cooperatives with a clear purpose, strong leadership, and a focus on addressing the needs of their communities.
Also present during the session were Taguig City Councilor Carlito Ogalinola, officers of the Taguig City Cooperative Development Council, Cooperative Development Authority Specialist Marilou Valencia, and Union of Defense and Public Safety Cooperatives General Manager Salud Pasicolan.
