The Manila Police District deployed additional personnel around Quiapo Church as thousands of devotees gathered for the First Friday devotion, one of the busiest monthly religious activities in the area.
According to the MPD, personnel from the Sta. Cruz Police Station, through the Plaza Miranda Police Community Precinct, were stationed in and around the church to maintain peace and order.
Police said officers were also assigned to ensure the safety of worshippers, manage the flow of devotees, and provide immediate assistance throughout the religious gathering.
The MPD said the deployment was part of security measures to prevent any untoward incident as large crowds continued to visit Quiapo Church for their monthly prayers and religious observance.
Authorities said the police presence was meant to help keep the First Friday gathering safe, orderly, and peaceful.
