Sandiganbayan Seeks 30 More Days To Review Revilla Bail Plea

  • June 5, 2026

The Sandiganbayan Third Division has asked for an additional 30 days to review the bail petition filed by former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.

The request was made on the same day the court’s initial 30-day period to evaluate the case records and evidence was set to expire.

Instead of immediately issuing a ruling, the anti-graft court said it needs more time to thoroughly examine the documents and other relevant details before deciding on Revilla’s petition.

The court noted that a bail petition is a crucial part of the judicial process, especially in cases involving serious charges.

Under the law, the Sandiganbayan must assess the strength of the prosecution’s evidence to determine whether there is sufficient basis to grant or deny bail.

The request is expected to delay the court’s decision on Revilla’s petition, while giving the Third Division more time to conduct a fuller review of the case records before issuing its ruling.
