PH Navy Ship Joins Border Patrol With Indonesia

The Philippine Navy has deployed BRP Artemio Ricarte (PS37) for the second leg of the Coordinated Patrol Philippines–Indonesia (CORPAT-PHILINDO)-40-2026, strengthening joint maritime security efforts along the shared border of the two countries.

The Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao held a send-off ceremony for the vessel on May 24 at Capt. Feranil Pier, Naval Station Felix Apolinario in Panacan, Davao City.

BRP Artemio Ricarte will represent the Philippines in the coordinated border patrol along the Philippine-Indonesian maritime boundary, a strategic sea lane that requires sustained monitoring due to risks such as piracy, smuggling, illegal fishing, and other transnational crimes.

The Navy said the ship’s participation reflects continuing efforts to protect the country’s maritime interests and ensure a stronger security presence in southern waters.

CORPAT PHILINDO is a bilateral maritime activity between the Philippines and Indonesia designed to strengthen cooperation between the two navies. It aims to improve communication, build mutual trust, and ensure faster coordinated responses to unlawful activities at sea.

The patrol also supports broader efforts to maintain stability and security in the maritime areas linking the Philippines and Indonesia, where close coordination is vital to protecting coastal communities, trade routes, and national borders.
