The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized three unlicensed firearms and arrested a 60-year-old man during a raid in General Trias City, Cavite on June 25.
Operatives of the CIDG Cavite Provincial Field Unit implemented a search warrant at around 4:12 p.m. in Barangay Pasong Kawayan 1 for alleged violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Authorities confiscated a caliber 5.56 M16 rifle, two caliber .45 pistols, magazines, and live ammunition during the operation.
In a report to CIDG Director PMGen. Robert Morico II, police identified the arrested suspect only as “Tony.” Authorities said the suspect was allegedly found in possession of the firearms without the required License to Own and Possess Firearms, while the seized weapons were allegedly not registered with the Firearms and Explosives Office.
The operation was conducted under Oplan Paglalansag Omega, the CIDG’s campaign against loose firearms.
CIDG said the operation forms part of its continuing effort to enforce RA 10591 and remove unlicensed firearms from circulation.
