The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) rescued 12 individuals, including minors and an infant, and arrested seven suspects during a series of anti-human trafficking operations in Parañaque City.
The operation stemmed from information provided by a non-government organization alleging that a group was exploiting minors under the guise of spa and wellness services.
According to the NBI, the victims were allegedly being offered to clients as “therapists” for so-called “nuru massage” and “lingam massage” services that involved sexual acts in exchange for money.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag ordered agents to conduct surveillance and online coordination with the suspects through social media platforms.
The investigation eventually led undercover operatives to an establishment identified as “Rainbow Spa,” where the alleged illegal activities were being carried out.
During the operation, undercover agents were reportedly offered the services of two female therapists before being brought to a nearby apartelle. Two male suspects allegedly responsible for transporting the minor victims to clients were arrested after accepting marked money from operatives.
Authorities later conducted follow-up operations at a residence in Fortunata Village, Parañaque City, where several victims and suspects were allegedly staying together. Eight additional victims were rescued while two more suspects were arrested.
Another operation led agents to a residence in Fourth Estate, Barangay San Antonio, where a couple believed to be the alleged operators of the trafficking group was arrested. Investigators also rescued another female victim during the operation.
Meanwhile, a separate operation at a motel in Pasay City resulted in the rescue of a minor and the arrest of her alleged client.
The seven arrested suspects underwent inquest proceedings for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 10364, or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012, and other applicable laws.
“Human trafficking is a cruel assault on human dignity, especially when the victims are minors who are robbed of their innocence and future,” Matibag said.
“The NBI will continue intensifying operations against trafficking syndicates and ensure that those responsible are brought before the law,” he added.
