The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) will offer free parking at LRT-2 Legarda Station starting Monday, May 25, as part of efforts to encourage private vehicle owners to shift to public transportation amid rising fuel prices.
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the complimentary parking service is intended to help motorists cut fuel expenses, reduce travel costs, ease traffic congestion, and make daily commutes faster and more convenient.
“This free parking fee is a big help because our passengers will really save money instead of consuming gasoline or diesel, and their journey to their destination will also be faster,” Lopez said.
The free parking service will be available daily from 4 am to 11:30 pm on a first-come, first-served basis.
To use the service, LRT-2 passengers must obtain a parking stub from LRTA security personnel at the Legarda Station parking area. The stub must be validated at the Passenger Assistance Office upon arrival at the passenger’s destination station and presented to security personnel before exiting the parking facility.
Passengers were reminded to park only in designated areas, lock their vehicles properly, and avoid leaving valuables inside their cars.
The Legarda Station program follows the launch of LRTA’s first complimentary parking service at Santolan Station on April 21, 2026.
The LRTA said the initiative supports the broader push to make rail transport a more practical option for motorists seeking relief from high fuel costs and longer travel times.
