The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said it has yet to receive any official communication or lawful directive regarding reports that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued a warrant of arrest against Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
In a statement, the PNP said it has taken note of circulating reports about the alleged ICC warrant but stressed that the matter still requires verification through proper government channels.
“At this time, the PNP has not received any official communication or lawful directive from the appropriate government authorities regarding the matter,” the organization said.
The PNP added that any action related to the reported warrant would have to comply with existing laws, due process, and coordination with concerned government agencies and relevant international law enforcement mechanisms.
“For its part, the PNP remains prepared to act in accordance with lawful directives and established procedures, while continuing coordination with the appropriate authorities on the matter,” it added.
Dela Rosa, a former PNP chief, has been linked to the ICC investigation into the Duterte administration’s anti-illegal drug campaign.
