The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to provide food safety and sanitation training to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and other Filipinos in South Korea.

The training, titled “Kitchen Confidence: Mastering Food Safety and Sanitation,” was conducted on July 5 at Sentro Rizal Hall in Seoul.

The activity was organized through the DMW’s Migrant Workers Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in South Korea, in close coordination with the Philippine Embassy.

Participants underwent practical and hands-on instruction on proper food handling, sanitation procedures and food safety standards.

The training was designed to equip participants with skills that could improve their workplace performance and help them meet industry requirements, particularly in the food and hospitality sector.

According to the DMW, the initiative seeks to improve the employability and livelihood prospects of OFWs by strengthening their technical competencies and preparing them for better career opportunities while abroad.

The program forms part of the government’s continuing efforts to provide skills development opportunities to Filipino migrant workers.

It also aims to help OFWs remain competitive in the global labor market while supporting their long-term professional growth and economic well-being.
