The Marikina City government and San Miguel Brewery collected more than two tons of waste during a cleanup drive at Sta. Clara Creek in Barangay Tejeros.
Through the city’s Department of Environmental Services, volunteers removed 2,125 kilograms of garbage and cleared approximately 450 meters of the waterway.
The activity formed part of efforts to improve the creek’s condition, protect the environment and reduce waste accumulation in the area.
Around 40 volunteers participated, including representatives from San Miguel Brewery and personnel from the DES.
Teams from the department’s Planning and Technical Services Division, Solid Waste Management Division I and Parks and Green Division I joined the cleanup.
Estero Rangers and Clean and Green Warriors from Barangay Tejeros also took part in the clearing operations.
The initiative sought to strengthen cooperation among the local government, private sector and community volunteers in maintaining cleaner waterways and a healthier environment.
