CIDG Seizes P9.5M in Hazardous Materials in Pampanga Raid

Two Chinese nationals were arrested after authorities seized about P9.5 million worth of suspected hazardous and regulated materials during a raid on a warehouse in San Simon, Pampanga.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), local police units, and support forces implemented a search warrant on May 14 for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 6969, or the Toxic Substances and Hazardous and Nuclear Wastes Control Act of 1990.

During the operation, authorities discovered tire wires, tire ash, whole and cut tires, industrial equipment, and heavy machinery allegedly used in processing activities inside the warehouse facility.

The confiscated items were valued at approximately P9.5 million.

The two arrested foreign nationals were placed under the custody of the CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 for documentation and legal proceedings.

Police said the seized materials and equipment were secured pending coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau for proper handling and disposition.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for the coordinated implementation of the search warrant, saying the operation forms part of the police campaign against activities that may threaten public safety and the environment.

“Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating kampanya laban sa mga ilegal na gawain na maaaring makapinsala sa kalikasan at sa kaligtasan ng mamamayan,” Nartatez said.

He said the PNP would continue to enforce the law fairly and professionally against individuals or groups engaged in illegal operations involving hazardous materials.

“Ang ating mensahe ay simple—ang batas ay dapat sundin, at mananatili tayong patas at propesyonal sa pagpapatupad nito,” he added.

The PNP said the operation supports its Enhanced Managing Police Operations agenda and the Marcos administration’s peace and order initiatives.

Authorities said follow-up coordination will continue to ensure the safe management of the seized materials and the proper filing of charges against those involved.
