De La Salle University (DLSU) Manila suspended in-person and online classes from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, while access to its Manila campus was restricted following a precautionary evacuation.
The La Sallian, the university’s official student publication, reported that the class suspension was announced by the Office of the Provost. However, the university had not disclosed the reason for the suspension as of the latest report.
Under the advisory, all in-person and online classes scheduled between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. were suspended. Office work was also suspended starting at 1 p.m., while classes scheduled from 6 p.m. onward were shifted to an online setup.
The university also restricted access to its Manila campus as part of the measures implemented on Monday afternoon.
In an earlier report, The La Sallian said the campus “was evacuated this afternoon as a precautionary measure after a campus announcement.”
The evacuation was carried out as a precautionary measure, according to the student publication. However, no further details were provided regarding the circumstances that prompted the announcement or the reason behind the evacuation.
The suspension affected both on-site and online academic activities during the specified hours, while the shift to online classes allowed evening classes to proceed remotely from 6 p.m. onward.
Meanwhile, the suspension of office work beginning at 1 p.m. and the restriction on campus access were also included in the university’s measures.
As of the latest report, the university had yet to publicly disclose additional information about the incident.
