BINI’s ‘A Parallel World’ Crosses 2 Million Spotify Streams

BINI’s “A Parallel World” has surpassed 2 million streams on Spotify, adding another milestone for the P-pop group ahead of the release of Forgotten Island.

The track, released on July 23, was created for the upcoming DreamWorks Animation film and has already logged more than 2.02 million streams on the platform.

Another version is also on the way.

The film’s soundtrack includes “A Parallel World (Amping Mix),” featuring BINI with Lea Salonga. The full soundtrack is set for digital release on September 18.

Written by Filipino composer Nathan Matthew David and producer Shawn Wasabi, “A Parallel World” centers on friendship and draws from the relationship between the film’s main characters, Jo and Raissa.

BINI members Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha and Sheena recorded the song in Los Angeles.

Fans first heard a preview during the opening of the group’s Signals World Tour at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in June.

BINI later performed the track during Forgotten Island activities at San Diego Comic-Con in July, bringing the song to an international audience before the film’s release.

BINI is part of a wide lineup of Filipino and Filipino-American artists featured in the film’s music.

H.E.R. and Liza Soberano perform “BRB,” while SB19 recorded a version of Francis Magalona’s “Mga Kababayan.” KATSEYE member Sophia Laforteza also appears on the soundtrack with a version of INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart.”

The film stars H.E.R. and Soberano as Jo and Raissa, with Lea Salonga, Dolly de Leon, Manny Jacinto and Jo Koy also part of the voice cast.

Directed by Joel Crawford and Filipino filmmaker Januel Mercado, Forgotten Island incorporates elements of Philippine culture and mythology.

With the soundtrack arriving later this month, “A Parallel World” is already building momentum before the film reaches audiences.
