From Hidden Cove to World’s Best: Entalula Beach in El Nido Takes the Crown

There are places that look beautiful in photos, and then there are places that stop you in your tracks the moment you arrive.

This year, one quiet stretch of paradise has done exactly that for the rest of the world. Entalula Beach, located on Entalula Island within Bacuit Bay in El Nido, has officially been named the No. 1 beach on the planet by The World’s 50 Best Beaches, which ranks the top coastal destinations globally based on scenery, seclusion, and water quality. This recognition is less a surprise and more like a long-overdue spotlight on the Philippines’ natural soul.

Tucked behind towering limestone cliffs and reachable only by boat, Entalula is not the kind of place that can just be stumbled upon but the kind that should be sought. And once there, it quietly sends a reminder why the country’s islands have long been whispered about among travelers as something extraordinary.

Entalula’s appeal goes beyond its powdery white sand and clear waters. It’s the feeling you get as soon as you step onto the shore. The cliffs rise like silent guardians, framing a shoreline that feels both expansive and intimate without ever feeling imposing. The sea shifts in shades of blue so vivid they seem like painted on the canvas. And unlike many world-famous beaches, Entalula offers something increasingly rare: space to breathe, to listen, to simply exist sans the hum of crowds.

The Global judges from the World’s 50 Best Beaches list pointed to this balance of drama and serenity as its defining edge. The beach’s isolation, as it is accessible only by boat, has helped preserve its raw beauty, allowing nature to remain the main attraction. No overwhelming development, no noise. It’s all wind, water, and absolute wonder.

For Filipinos, the recognition carries a deeper resonance. It’s a celebration not just of a destination, but of an island’s and a nation’s identity. In a country of more than 7,000 islands, each with its own story, Entalula’s rise to the top feels like a shared victory, a reminder that the Philippines doesn’t just compete on the global stage; it defines it.

And Entalula isn’t alone in waving the flag. Kalanggaman Island in Palompon, Leyte also secured a spot on the list, its iconic sandbar slicing through turquoise waters like a natural masterpiece. Together, they showcase the diversity of Philippine coastlines, from dramatic cliffs to minimalist sandscapes.

Around the world, other stunning beaches, from Fteri Beach to Wharton Beach, earned their place in the rankings. But this year, it’s the Philippines that holds the crown, a testament to landscapes that remain as authentic as they are awe-inspiring.

Adding to the momentum, El Nido itself has recently been hailed by BBC as one of the world’s top travel destinations. It serves as further proof that this corner of Palawan is no longer just a secret, but a symbol.

Yet even as the spotlight grows brighter, Entalula’s magic lies in its quiet. It doesn’t demand attention—it earns it. It invites travelers not just to visit, but to reconnect with nature, with stillness, and perhaps, with a deeper sense of pride in what the Philippines has to offer.

In the end, Entalula Beach isn’t defined by rankings. The limestone has stood for millions of years, the water has always held that color, and the silence has always run that deep. The world just finally caught up.
