Anne Curtis’ mother hits back at Suntay over House hearing remark

The mother of actress Anne Curtis has criticized Quezon City Representative Bong Suntay following the lawmaker’s controversial remark about her daughter during a House hearing.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Carmen Curtis issued a brief but pointed message directed at the Quezon City representative.

“Mr. Bong Suntay [you are a] sick man, I reckon!! [You’re] foul!!” she wrote.

Carmen also shared a post from Anne’s sister, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, who said the issue goes beyond a single celebrity and reflects how women are often reduced to their bodies in spaces dominated by men in power.

Jasmine called for accountability from those in positions of authority, saying that if the public wants safer environments for “our daughters, nieces, and future leaders,” responsibility should start with elected officials.

The remarks from Suntay drew criticism after members of the House Committee on Justice called him out for expressing his apparent desire for the actress during proceedings on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.

“Alam niyo, minsan nasa Shangri-La ako. Nakita ko si Anne Curtis. Ang ganda-ganda pala niya. You know, may desire sa loob ko na nag-init talaga, na-imagine ko na lang kung ano’ng pwedeng mangyari, pero siyempre hanggang imagination na lang ‘yon. Pero ‘di naman siguro ako pwedeng kasuhan kung ano ang na-imagine ko eh,” Suntay said during the hearing.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte also urged Suntay to apologize for his statement, saying the lawmaker should take full accountability for his remarks.

“Our people deserve no less,” Belmonte said.

Meanwhile, Anne Curtis recently faced travel disruptions due to tensions in the Middle East. Her flight from Italy to Dubai was rerouted following airstrikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran.

According to her mother, the actress safely arrived in Oman and reunited with her husband Erwan Heussaff and their daughter Dahlia.
