Philippine Army Chief Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete honored two senior Armed Forces of the Philippines officers during separate exit calls at Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, on July 8, 2026.

The officers were AFP Internal Auditor Maj. Gen. Lloyd S. Cabacuñgan of the Philippine Air Force and 9th Infantry “Spear” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Aldwine I. Almase.

Cabacuñgan, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” Class of 1991, was recognized for his role in advancing the AFP’s E-Governance for Transparency and Accountability through the institutionalization of the Digital Audit System.

As one of the senior leaders of the Philippine Air Force, Cabacuñgan also contributed to efforts to protect Philippine airspace, support joint military operations, and strengthen the country’s defense capabilities.

He is set to retire from military service this month.

Almase, meanwhile, is a member of the PMA “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992 and concurrently serves as commander of the AFP’s Joint Task Force Bicolandia.

Before leading the 9th Infantry Division, Almase commanded the 903rd Infantry “Patriot” Brigade, where he earned multiple recognitions for operational excellence in counterinsurgency efforts in the Bicol Region.

He also took part in initiatives to strengthen humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, as well as peace efforts across the region.

Almase is scheduled to retire from active service in October.

The Philippine Army said the exit calls form part of a longstanding military tradition of honoring outgoing senior officers for their leadership, professionalism, and commitment to military values throughout their careers.
