A years-old controversy involving Jelai Andres, Jon Gutierrez, also known as King Badger, and Yumi Garcia is making the rounds online again following recent claims by internet personality Xian Gaza.
Andres broke her silence on Aug. 22 after Gaza revisited the issue and raised questions about Garcia’s age during her involvement with Gutierrez. Andres disputed part of his account, saying Garcia was no longer a minor when she had children. She also said her previous decision to stay quiet should not be interpreted as agreeing with other versions of what happened during her marriage.
The renewed discussion comes shortly after Andres finally ended her marriage to Gutierrez through annulment.
Andres and Gutierrez began their relationship in 2015 and married in October 2018. They separated in 2019, reconciled the following year and later split again amid allegations of infidelity.
In June 2021, Andres filed a concubinage complaint against Gutierrez. The case later reached the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, where Gutierrez voluntarily surrendered and posted bail in 2022.
Garcia’s name had figured in the allegations surrounding the breakdown of the marriage. With the controversy resurfacing, however, Andres has challenged some of the details now being circulated about the timeline.
Nearly five years after pursuing the annulment, Andres announced in July that her marriage to Gutierrez had officially been annulled. She described the development as the end of one of the most difficult chapters of her life.
The annulment had appeared to put the long-running public chapter behind her. Gaza’s recent commentary has now brought parts of it back into the conversation — and prompted Andres to put her own account on record.
