Police officers in Northern Samar extended assistance to a sexual abuse survivor and her family as part of an outreach activity marking their 20th year in public service.
Members of the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course Class 2006-03 “PAGLAUM” assigned in Northern Samar visited the survivor in Pambujan town and provided grocery assistance and livelihood support to help the family recover from the trauma they endured.
The survivor was among the victims in an incident involving two inmates who escaped from the Provincial Jail in 2025. A rape case against the suspects remains pending in court.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said police service should go beyond law enforcement and reflect genuine compassion for communities.
“Police work is not only about arresting those who violate the law. It is also important for our people to feel that we care and are ready to support them as they recover. Simple acts like this have a strong impact in strengthening public trust and hope,” Nartatez said.
The PNP also commended Class PAGLAUM for showing unity and compassion, saying the initiative reflected the continuing spirit of public service even after two decades in the police force.
The PNP said it will continue promoting humane and responsive police service under its Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas program.
