The Department of Education (DepEd) field offices and schools were directed to help qualified junior and senior high school learners apply for the August 9, 2026 Career Service Examination-Pen and Paper Test.
The directive follows the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) recognition of K to 12 completers for first-level government eligibility, opening a clearer pathway for basic education graduates who want to enter public service.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the initiative aims to show learners that they have concrete options after finishing school, including possible careers in government.
“We want young people to feel that there is a clear next step after school,” the DepEd chief said.
“For those who want to enter public service, we will help them prepare, apply, and see that they have a place in government if they wish to serve,” he added.
Under CSC Resolution No. 2500229, senior high school or K to 12 graduates, as well as completers of relevant technical-vocational programs, may qualify for first-level government positions, subject to applicable qualification standards and legal requirements.
Through DepEd Memorandum No. 32, series of 2026, Angara encouraged learners who are at least 18 years old and have completed junior or senior high school to take the civil service examination for the professional and subprofessional levels.
The exam is scheduled on August 9, 2026, while applications will be accepted from May 14 to June 10, 2026.
Angara directed DepEd regional offices, schools division offices, and schools to provide information on qualifications and requirements, share review materials, conduct review sessions, integrate civil service exam preparation into career readiness activities, and coordinate with CSC field offices for local application announcements.
DepEd said the initiative supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen education-to-employment pathways and ensure that learners have better opportunities after basic education.
