The Department of Education (DepEd) is using data-driven criteria to determine classroom allocations based on the needs of schools nationwide, Education Secretary Sonny Angara said.
Angara made the statement in response to the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2) report identifying gaps in classroom allocations for local government units (LGUs) with the highest estimated classroom shortages under the initial 2026 allocations.
The DepEd chief said the department’s classroom construction strategy is guided by data to ensure that resources are directed toward schools with the greatest needs.
