President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed former Taguig City mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano as the new general manager of People’s Television Network Inc. or PTV-4.
Acting Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez announced Cayetano’s appointment in a statement, saying the former local chief executive would replace Maria Lourdes Fagar.
“I am happy to announce that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed former Taguig City Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano as the new General Manager of PTV-4,” Gomez said.
Gomez also thanked Fagar for her service to the government-run television network and to the country.
He said Cayetano brings experience from media, the private sector, and public service, which he said would help guide PTV-4 in a changing multimedia landscape.
Gomez described Cayetano as someone with “a rare wealth of experience from the media, private, and the public sectors that would certainly take PTV-4 to greater heights in our ever-evolving multi-media landscape.”
Cayetano, the younger brother of Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano and Senator Pia Cayetano, previously served as a member of the House of Representatives during the 13th Congress and later as Taguig City mayor from 2019 to 2022.
Before and after his stint in public office, Cayetano also built a career in the entertainment and media industry. He directed several television programs, served as creative consultant for ABS-CBN, and co-founded Rein Entertainment, where he works as a producer and director.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from the University of the Philippines and completed a Diploma in Film at the New York Film Academy in 1999.
