Nearly a decade after it was written, IV OF SPADES has finally released “Isang Pag-ibig,” a song that arrives at a very different point in the band’s story.
Released via Sony Music Entertainment, the track comes after the late-2025 reunion of Unique Salonga, Zild Benitez, Blaster Silonga, and Badjao de Castro, and amid a renewed run of touring, chart activity, and international plans.
“Isang Pag-ibig” is built around a simple emotional premise: giving everything to someone does not always mean they will love you back.
The song keeps that idea front and center through an equally direct arrangement. Jangling guitars, a three-chord progression, and a straightforward four-piece setup give the track a loose, immediate feel, without overcomplicating its sentiment.
What makes the release more notable is its timing.
The song was written years before the band’s reunion, but it is being introduced by musicians who have since gone through separate careers and individual artistic growth before finding their way back to IV OF SPADES.
That gap gives the track a different weight. It carries the sound and instinct of an earlier period, but arrives in a chapter where the band is no longer simply revisiting its past.
Since reuniting in late 2025, IV OF SPADES has taken its comeback beyond Manila through the Andalucia Tour 2026, with stops in Davao City, Santa Rosa, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu City, and Baguio.
The band is also set to perform in the United States and Canada in October.
Its return has also brought renewed attention to its catalog. “Kabisado” has accumulated nearly 80 million Spotify streams, while reaching the top 10 of the Spotify Philippines Daily Chart and No. 6 on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100.
The group has likewise received two People’s Choice nominations at the Filipino Music Awards 2026 and multiple nominations at the 39th Awit Awards.
That resurgence suggests the reunion is developing into something more sustained than a nostalgia cycle.
“Isang Pag-ibig” reinforces that impression.
Instead of relying only on familiar material, IV OF SPADES is bringing unfinished pieces of its history into the present and giving them a new context.
The release also points to a productive creative period for the quartet and hints at the possibility of more music to come.
For a band whose return could have easily been framed around memory alone, “Isang Pag-ibig” offers a different proposition: the past can still produce something that feels current.
Nearly 10 years after it was written, the song is less a throwback than a reminder that some material simply needs the right moment to surface.
