Malacañang has backed calls for oversight agencies to investigate allegations that foreign funds originating from Chinese entities were funneled into a foundation and commercial enterprise associated with Vice President Sara Duterte and her spouse.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that key investigative bodies, including the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), possess the authority to examine transaction records to establish the facts.
Castro emphasized that claims involving foreign interference and financial donations require transparent legal scrutiny.
“It is better to investigate this, not to destroy anyone, but to determine the truth and see if a foreign power is interfering in our domestic politics,” Castro said.
She also said, “If there is no evidence, it would be best for all parties involved to present their official financial records.”
The Palace noted that state agencies must act independently on verified documentation to protect national sovereignty and maintain public integrity across official institutions.
