Inflight High-Speed Wi-Fi Set for Rollout by 2027

Cebu Pacific will introduce Starlink inflight internet service by 2027, becoming the first low-cost carrier in Southeast Asia to offer the satellite-based connectivity system aboard its aircraft.

The service will provide passengers with high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi, allowing them to stream high-definition content, play online games, work remotely and stay connected throughout their flights.

Starlink, operated by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, is also expected to improve connectivity for Cebu Pacific’s flight crews and operational teams, supporting better coordination and efficiency.

The rollout forms part of the airline’s continued investment in customer experience and digital innovation as it expands one of the youngest and largest fleets in the region.

“Introducing Starlink marks another important step in delivering a better travel experience for every Juan,” Cebu Pacific President and Chief Commercial Officer Xander Lao said.

“Reliable, high-speed connectivity has become an expectation for today’s travelers, and we’re excited to bring that experience to our guests. Whether they’re staying in touch with loved ones, catching up on work, or enjoying their favorite content, Starlink will allow them to stay connected throughout their journey while Cebu Pacific remains true to our commitment to making air travel accessible and affordable,” he added.

Cebu Pacific and other airlines under the Indigo Partners portfolio expect to install Starlink on more than 1,000 aircraft.

The portfolio includes Frontier in the United States, Wizz Air in Europe, Volaris in Mexico and JetSMART in South America.

The deployment represents one of the largest global commitments to next-generation inflight connectivity, with the airlines seeking to combine affordable fares with reliable onboard Wi-Fi managed directly by Starlink.

“Starlink will provide our portfolio airlines with reliable, high-speed connectivity, further enhancing the customer experience of flying on Wizz, Frontier, Volaris, JetSMART and Cebu Pacific,” Indigo Partners Managing Partner Bill Franke said.
