President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will undertake a working visit to Singapore from July 14 to 16 to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries ahead of Singapore’s 2027 chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Monday that Marcos will make a courtesy call on Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during the three-day visit.
The two leaders are expected to discuss expanding cooperation between Manila and Singapore in trade and investment, the environment, health, and regional and global development.
They are also expected to reaffirm their countries’ commitment to ASEAN centrality and regional stability.
During the visit, Marcos will participate in a private roundtable discussion organized by the Milken Institute on the Philippines’ path toward becoming an upper-middle-income country.
Several Singapore-based business leaders are expected to attend the discussion.
Castro said First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos will accompany the President and address the Global Economic Cooperation East Summit upon the invitation of the Future Economic Cooperation Council.
The India-based economic platform brings together government and business leaders to advance global strategic economic cooperation.
The Singapore trip will be Marcos’ 45th foreign travel since assuming the presidency in 2022.
