THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has arrested the No. 1 Regional Most Wanted Person in the Zamboanga Peninsula during an intelligence-driven operation in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on June 23, 2026.

The 25-year-old male suspect was wanted for alleged violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016. He was tracked and arrested through coordination between the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 9 and local police units following validation and intelligence operations.

The arrest was carried out through the PNP’s electronic warrant system, which authorities said helped expedite the location and apprehension of the suspect.

A warrant of arrest issued by a Regional Trial Court in Zamboanga City carried a recommended bail of P300,000.

The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights in a language he understood before being placed under police custody pending court proceedings.

PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for the coordinated operation, citing the effective use of intelligence and modern policing systems.

“Ang pagkakaaresto sa isang wanted person ay resulta ng maayos na pagtutulungan, masusing impormasyon, at paggamit ng mga makabagong sistema,” Nartatez said, emphasizing respect for due process and individual rights.

He added that the arrest reflects the PNP’s continued mandate to assist courts in enforcing warrants and strengthening accountability under the justice system.

The PNP said the operation forms part of its focused agenda on intelligence-led policing and technology-driven law enforcement to track wanted persons nationwide.
