The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said assistance extended to families affected by the collapse of a nine-storey structure in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City last month has reached P2.14 million.

Based on monitoring by the DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring, Information, and Communication (DROMIC) Division as of June 7, the agency has provided P1.673 million worth of food, non-food items, and cash assistance to affected residents.

Local government units also extended P120,000 worth of aid, while non-government organizations provided P350,000 in assistance.

The DSWD said 131 families, or 346 individuals, were affected by the incident. Of the figure, 53 families were directly affected, including those with casualties and survivors, while 78 families were indirectly affected because of their proximity to the collapse site and the resulting economic disruption.

At least 27 people died in the collapse, including a foreign national and a child.
