The death toll from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani on June 8 has climbed to 88, after the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported seven more fatalities.
In its latest situation report on Wednesday, the NDRRMC said the powerful quake also left 1,316 people injured, while 24 others remain missing.
Six of the newly reported deaths were recorded in Soccsksargen, the worst-hit region, bringing its total fatalities to 67.
One additional fatality was recorded in the Davao Region, raising its death toll to 21.
Of the injured, 1,236 were recorded in Soccsksargen, 79 in the Davao Region, and one in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The NDRRMC said 13 of the missing persons were reported in the Davao Region, while 11 were recorded in Soccsksargen.
The quake affected 391,275 families, or 1,679,152 individuals, across Soccsksargen, Davao Region, BARMM, and Zamboanga Peninsula.
Of the affected population, 6,401 families, or 26,166 individuals, remain in 75 evacuation centers.
The NDRRMC said the government and partner agencies have provided ₱775.73 million worth of assistance to affected communities.
Damage to infrastructure in the four affected regions has reached ₱1.46 billion, while 113,279 houses were reported either totally or partially damaged.
