DOE Checks Fuel Stations For PUV Subsidy Compliance

The Department of Energy (DOE) has conducted inspections of several fuel stations across Metro Manila to ensure proper implementation of the government’s Fuel Subsidy Program (FSP) for eligible Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs), according to the agency.

The inspection is part of the DOE’s efforts to verify that qualified PUV drivers and operators are receiving the intended benefits of the subsidy program, which was launched to help cushion the impact of rising petroleum prices.

DOE representatives monitored the actual implementation of the ₱10-per-liter diesel discount being provided to eligible beneficiaries. The agency also assessed fuel stations’ participation in the program and checked their compliance with government regulations for the subsidy scheme.

According to the DOE, the monitoring activities aim to ensure that participating fuel stations consistently honor the subsidy and provide seamless transactions for qualified drivers and operators.

The agency reported that, under the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the DOE, a total of 1,187 fuel stations nationwide were operational and ready to process fuel subsidy transactions as of May 27, 2026. The growing number of participating stations is expected to improve accessibility and convenience for beneficiaries across the country.

The Fuel Subsidy Program is one of the government’s measures to assist the transport sector amid continued volatility in global oil prices. Through the initiative, qualified PUV operators and drivers can avail themselves of discounted diesel purchases, helping reduce operating costs and support public transportation services.

The DOE said it will continue conducting monitoring and validation activities across various parts of the country to ensure proper implementation of the program. The agency added that these efforts are intended to ensure that more PUV drivers and operators benefit from the government’s fuel assistance program.

“The Department of Energy continues to monitor participating fuel stations and validate transactions to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the Fuel Subsidy Program,” the DOE said.
