Two Philippine Military Academy (PMA) cadets represented the country at the 2nd Korea Military Academy International Cadet Week 2026 in Seoul, South Korea, as part of efforts to strengthen international military education exchanges and expose future officers to global defense training practices.

Cadet 2nd Class Hannah Patricia Daez and Cadet 2nd Class Vinz Perrie Barlas joined the event held from May 3 to 8 at the Korea Military Academy (KMA). They were accompanied by Maj. Joel Romano of the Philippine Army.

The international gathering brought together cadet delegations from 12 other countries, including Indonesia, Japan, Romania, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Poland, Germany, Brazil, Spain, South Korea, and the Philippines.

During the program, the PMA cadets participated in activities highlighting the training system and military culture of the Korea Military Academy. These included archery, taekwondo, drone technology exposure, and other leadership and defense-oriented engagements.

The delegation also visited several historical, cultural, and defense sites, including Gyeongbokgung Palace, the National Museum of Korea, Han River, Bulguksa Temple, the UN Memorial Cemetery, SNT Motiv, and Hanwha Aerospace.

They were also given a look at the Small Unit Scientific Tactical Center, where KMA cadets train in marksmanship and tactical maneuvers using virtual reality technology. The group also observed a remote live-fire demonstration range showcasing the capabilities of the Republic of Korea Army.

PMA said the activity provided its cadets with valuable insights into foreign military training systems, modernization efforts, and international defense cooperation.

The academy’s participation also supports broader efforts to build professional ties with allied military schools and prepare cadets for leadership roles in an increasingly interconnected security environment.

The experience is also expected to help PMA as it prepares to host its own International Cadet Conference in September 2026.
