Outgoing Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Rolando Toledo has accepted his appointment to the Board of Trustees of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), saying his commitment to public service remains unchanged after stepping down from the budget department.

In a statement, Toledo said he respects President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s decision to appoint a new DBM chief, noting that Cabinet officials serve at the pleasure of the President.

“I serve at the pleasure of the President, and I fully respect the wisdom of his decisions,” Toledo said.

He also expressed support for incoming DBM Secretary Kim Robert de Leon and voiced confidence that the department would continue promoting sound, transparent, and people-centered governance.

“As I transition from this role, I extend my wholehearted support to the new DBM Secretary and remain confident in the Department’s continued pursuit of sound, transparent, and people-centered governance,” he said.

Toledo, who has spent more than 38 years in public service, said his departure from the DBM does not mark the end of his government career as he prepares to assume his new role at GSIS, the state pension fund for government workers.

“Rest assured that my commitment to serve our country and the Filipino people, which I have upheld for more than 38 years in public service, remains unchanged. That commitment will continue wherever I may be called to serve,” Toledo said.

He also thanked the President for the opportunity to lead the DBM, describing the position as both a privilege and a responsibility.

“I remain deeply grateful to God for granting me the opportunity and privilege to serve the DBM as its Secretary. I firmly believe that everything happens according to His greater purpose and perfect timing,” he added.
