The Itchyworms Bring OPM Nostalgia To Hong Kong ‘Akin Ka Na Lang’ Tour Stop

The Itchyworms are taking their “Akin Ka Na Lang” tour to Hong Kong for the first time, bringing one of OPM’s most beloved live acts closer to Filipinos who have carried the band’s songs far from home.

The iconic pop-rock group will perform at The Wanch in Wan Chai on July 26, 2026, with two shows scheduled on the same day: a 4 p.m. matinee and an 8 p.m. evening performance. The setup gives overseas Filipinos more flexibility to attend, especially those working around tight schedules and curfews.

For many Filipino fans in Hong Kong, the show is more than a concert. It is a familiar sound arriving in a city where thousands of Filipinos have built lives, careers, and communities while keeping OPM close.

The Itchyworms, the band behind enduring hits such as “Beer,” “Love Team,” and “Di Na Muli,” are expected to deliver the kind of sing-along set that has made them a multi-generational staple in Filipino music.

“Hong Kong has always been part of the Filipino story,” Jugs Jugueta said. “The fact that it’s so near, yet only a few OPM bands have played there baffles me. The last time I was in Hong Kong was in 2019, so I’m so excited to come back and eat goose with my bandmates.”

The Hong Kong stop also reflects the continuing pull of OPM among Filipinos overseas. For Jugueta, touring abroad has become a reminder of how deeply Filipino music travels with its audience.

“It’s very humbling that we are able to tour the world, and anywhere we go, there will be Filipinos there,” he said. “It is also humbling that multiple generations love The Itchyworms’ songs and continue to sing them everywhere.”

While this marks the band’s first Hong Kong performance, The Itchyworms are approaching the show with the same loose, crowd-driven energy that has defined their live sets through the years.

Jazz Nicolas said the band is entering the Hong Kong stop without overthinking the room.

“We don’t know what kind of atmosphere to expect. We really just roll with the punches and give them everything we’ve got,” Nicolas said.

The show will also feature collaborations with Filipino musicians based in Hong Kong, including Jesper Mercado and Rendel Frendol, who are expected to join the band on stage.

That added local connection gives the concert a sharper emotional weight. It is not just The Itchyworms performing for Filipinos in Hong Kong. It is also a meeting point between a band that helped soundtrack Filipino life and a community that has kept those songs alive abroad.

For longtime fans, the night promises comfort, nostalgia, and the shared release of hearing familiar songs in a foreign city. For newer listeners, it is a chance to see why The Itchyworms remain one of the most enduring names in OPM: witty, melodic, sentimental when needed, and built for crowds that know every word.

The “Akin Ka Na Lang” Hong Kong show is set for July 26, 2026, at The Wanch in Wan Chai.
