Tab Baldwin Stepdaughter’s X Posts Stir Controversy Over Safety Claims

Giota Kalogirou, who has identified herself in posts as the stepdaughter of Ateneo de Manila University men’s basketball coach Tab Baldwin, attracted attention after publishing a series of statements on X (formerly Twitter) that allege ignored safety warnings involving student-athletes and internal team concerns.

In a repost circulated on June 13, Kalogirou echoed claims made by her mother, Efthymia “Efi” Kalogirou, asserting that repeated warnings were allegedly raised to Ateneo officials regarding the safety of minors in the program.

“My mom begged them to assign him into a different team — a team with adults, away from the University, away from minors and they not only ignored her but made her life living hell for months,” she wrote in one post.

She added a separate remark urging continued scrutiny of the matter, saying. “Keep asking questions.”

In another widely shared post, Kalogirou appeared to direct criticism toward individuals linked to the basketball program, referencing past interactions involving team management and dormitory arrangements.

“Remember laughing at my mom? Remember putting him inside the Ateneo dorms and us begging you to take him out? Now you have two funerals to explain.”

The posts surfaced amid heightened public attention following earlier statements from Efi Kalogirou, who claimed in a video that she had repeatedly warned Ateneo officials that “children were not safe” under Baldwin’s supervision and that her concerns were allegedly met with intimidation and dismissal.

Giota Kalogirou’s posts have been widely shared on social media and amplified by media coverage on the developing controversy involving Ateneo’s basketball program and related safety allegations

So far, the university has not issued a detailed response addressing the specific claims raised in the posts and related statements.
