At least 22,267 families or 87,939 individuals remain displaced following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao on June 8, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as of Sunday.

Data from the DSWD Disaster Response Operations Monitoring, Information, and Communication (DROMIC) Division showed that 5,594 families, or 24,588 individuals, are still staying in 54 evacuation centers, while 16,673 families, or 63,351 individuals, are temporarily sheltering with relatives or friends.

The earthquake also damaged a total of 84,580 houses across at least four affected regions in Mindanao.

DSWD assistance has reached P355.6 million, covering family food packs, non-food relief items, and other support services.

The agency is also providing psychosocial assistance, along with cash aid through its Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) and Cash-for-Work programs.

Starting Tuesday, the DSWD will begin distributing ECT assistance in Region XII after P426.98 million was allocated for quake-affected families in SOCCSKSARGEN.

The cash aid may be used for additional needs such as medicines and infant formula, which are not included in standard relief packs distributed by the agency.
