Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Boying Remulla confirmed that targeted figures in the ongoing investigation regarding alleged illicit cash deliveries are currently out of the country.
Speaking to reporters, Remulla revealed that former Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco and his wife, Wen Velasco, are currently staying in Japan. The statement follows recent allegations connecting the couple to high-profile cash transfers currently under investigation by law enforcement authorities.
“They are in Japan right now,” Remulla said. “We are monitoring their movements, but we are also giving them the opportunity to address these allegations properly.”
When asked if the government plans to request their immediate return or issue a immigration lookout bulletin, Remulla noted that official legal channels are being evaluated based on how the preliminary investigation progresses.
“We will do what is necessary under the law once the formal complaints are evaluated,” Remulla added. “For now, the focus remains on gathering solid evidence regarding these supposed cash deliveries.”
The DOJ chief emphasized that due process will be strictly observed as investigators continue gathering testimonial and documentary evidence related to the case.
