Authorities seized an estimated P6.02 million worth of imported e-bike batteries, chargers, and assembled units during a joint law enforcement operation in Mexico, Pampanga on June 23, 2026.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Pampanga Provincial Field Unit, in coordination with CIDG Regional Special Operations Team, PRO3 Special Operations Group, and the Mexico Municipal Police Station, implemented a search warrant at a warehouse in Barangay Laug from 2:50 pm to 11:05 pm.
Recovered from the warehouse of Antelope Electric Motors were 365 imported batteries of Chilwee and Tianneng brands, 90 e-bike chargers, and 20 units of Antelope e-bikes with installed batteries.
Authorities said the items lacked Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers and Philippine Standard (PS) marks required by the Department of Trade and Industry–Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS), in violation of the Consumer Act of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 7394).
Investigators also found that the warehouse had no business permit issued by the local government unit.
The CIDG said the absence of ICC certification raises concerns over product safety and compliance with national quality standards, which are intended to protect consumers from substandard or potentially hazardous goods.
CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II said the operation aligns with the government’s policy of safeguarding consumers and ensuring that products in the market meet required safety regulations.
The seized items remain under inventory and documentation as authorities prepare for possible charges against those responsible.
The CIDG said the operation reflects its continuing crackdown on unregulated trade and its commitment to enforcing consumer protection laws nationwide.
