The local government of Quezon City expressed condolences to the family of a 53-year-old woman who died after collapsing while waiting in line for financial assistance at City Hall.

In a statement, the local government said the Barangay Sauyo resident was lining up for an Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) payout under the office of Councilor Vito Sotto when she lost consciousness and hit her head on the floor.

Emergency responders from the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO) immediately assisted the woman and brought her to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.

Despite efforts by medical personnel, she died several minutes later.

The city government said it has provided burial assistance to the woman’s family. Her youngest child will also be endorsed to the city’s scholarship program for additional support.

The local government said it remains in coordination with the family to determine other forms of assistance that may be extended.

Following the incident, Quezon City officials said they will review the implementation of safety protocols during activities held by various organizations at City Hall to ensure the welfare of attendees, especially during events expected to draw large crowds.
